Since it's Mother's Day this weekend, I've decided to do a post focusing on mothers. The mothers I'm referring to in this post are ladies aged 55 years old and above. I poked around in their bathrooms and dresser tables, so these are the actual products they use (and not a list of products they submitted in an online form).
Mom A
Lifestyle: Stay at home mother, works part-time
Age/race: 59 years old, Chinese
How she describes her own skin: Flexible (can try any products and will not have a negative reaction)
What she uses: Sulwhasoo Snowise EX cleansing foam or just plain water to cleanse face. She uses Sulwhasoo Snowise EX Whitening masks on occasion since buying them in March 2013.
Effortgirl's inputs: I had passed her some samples of O Hui Black Serum and O Hui Cell Power No. 1 to try out. She mentioned that she had received compliments after trying O Hui Cell Power No. 1. Since O Hui seems to be working for her, I passed her some O Hui Cell Power Eye cream and Hera Aquabolic Emulsion for normal-dry skin to try.
Mom B
Lifestyle: Stay at home mother, primary caretaker to grandchild (aged 7 months)
Age/race: 55 years old, Chinese
How she describes her own skin: Oily
What she uses: Dove Beauty Moisture Facial Wash and ZA New York Facial Cleansing Foam on occasion. Recent overseas business trips by her children brought back paper & gel masks from South Korea and Taiwan and she is trying them out.
Effortgirl's inputs: I just passed Mom B a whole bag of skincare serum and moisturiser samples for her to try out (O Hui Black Serum, O Hui Cell Power No. 1, O Hui Cell Power Eye cream and Hera Aquabolic Emulsion for normal-dry skin).
Mom C
Lifestyle: Works part-time, primary household manager/cleaner/cook
Age/race: 62 years old, Chinese
How she describes her own skin: Oily
What she uses: EverSoft Double Moisturising Facial Cleanser and Johnson's Baby Lotion (on body and face) after her swims in a public swimming pool. Uses sunscreen before swimming (Neutrogena & La Roche Posay are her current brands)
Effortgirl's inputs: I showed Mom C the power of lanolin on her hand and passed her samples to use on her body. Past attempts to introduce other facial washes and other skincare products have proven to fall on deaf ears.
Mom D
Lifestyle: Stay at home mother, has domestic help
Age/race: 63 years old, Chinese
How she describes her own skin: Pigmented, dry and sensitive
What she uses: St Ives Apricot Scrub/St Ives Moisturizing Olive Scrub for cleansing, SK-II Facial Treatment Essence (day) after cleansing, SK-II Facial Treatment Repair C (night) after cleansing, SK-II Stempower as moisturiser. Uses For Beloved One Melasleep Whitening Bio-Cellulose masks, SK-II Skin Signature 3D Redefining masks and Sulwhasoo Snowise EX Whitening masks occasionally.
Effortgirl's inputs: I introduced Sulwhasoo to Mom D and have suggested she switch to other brands to try out non-SK-II whitening products. What does your mother use?
